What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a system of retainer-like appliances that are able to slowly shift teeth without the need for bulky hardware like braces. It works, and it can also be effective for anyone. Because of this, adults and teens can achieve the smile they want, without feeling self-conscious about the mode of treatment. For us, this is crucial. We believe you should never hide the urge to smile, even if you’re going through dental treatment.
Invisalign works by fitting your teeth with aligners that shift your teeth slightly, adjusting them horizontally and vertically, or even rotating them when needed. These aligners are specially engineered to use just the right amount of force in any given place at the right time.
Your dentist will curate a specific treatment plan for you. As you move to new aligners (relatively frequently, often weekly), your teeth will gradually move into the correct position. They are virtually invisible, and can be taken out any time for meals or activities. Ideally, you should be wearing your aligners between 20 and 22 hours every day for optimal results.
When your treatment with Invisalign is complete, you’ll likely be transitioned to a retainer.
Invisalign is not nearly as restrictive to its users as traditional braces. You can perfect your smile, and also not have the need to change your lifestyle. Many adults opt for this system, not only because it is discreet, but also because there is no need to change your diet to avoid foods that could damage braces. Invisalign may be an excellent choice for kids and teens as well, as it can be removed easily before a sporting event. It’s the simplest way to get a straighter smile without having to make dramatic changes in your daily activities.
